In this space we will explore technology tools and how these tools can help you improve your teaching and student learning. This will be an easy to navigate resource for teachers to access when designing instruction with the integration of technology tools. We will use this space to generate a list of important attributes of that technology. Attribute examples might include:

  • portable
  • easy to use requires technical expertise
  • can be shared simultaneously by a whole class
  • meets diverse needs of student
  • improves personal efficiency
  • expedites problem solving (speed up the progress of problem solving)
  • promotes learning
  • increases organization
  • facilitates communication

Your task is to look for technology tools that facilitate higher order pedagogical objectives in behaviorist, cognitivist, and constructivist modes. The technology tools that you research and include in this resource should help your students engage in constructivist learning through synthesis and creation of new knowledge.

We will use Bloom's Taxonomy to guide our research

  1. Knowledge - simple recall of information; ability to recite learned principles or theories;
  2. Comprehension - demonstration of understanding via interpretation or paraphrasing;
  3. Application - ability to apply abstract principles to particular and concrete situations;
  4. Analysis - clarification of complex situations through decomposition and identification or relationship of parts;
  5. Synthesis - bringing together facts or ideas to create new patterns or structure;
  6. Evaluation - making judgments about the value of materials or methods. (Bloom)

As you research technology tools to include in this resource, identify technology tools that are convenient, convergent, collaborative, promote creativity, and are compliant. We are specifically looking at technologies that;
  1. promote authentic learning
  2. meet our specific learning needs and goals
  3. improve assessment and evaluation
  4. address diverse learning styles and needs
  5. build community
